Jimmy is also passionate about pushing fpv forward and helping to get it noticed more than a niche hobby, which is slowly happening with commercial advertising, films and with more off the shelf products from companies like Dji. Whilst also helping people not connected with the drone world about what it is and how the media sometimes miss represent it.
As a presenter on 'The Drone Show Live,' Jimmy loves being part of a selfless community that helps people grow and share their aerial photography passion. Patrick - The Aerial Adventure Aficionado and Guest Presenter on Drone Show Live
Welcome to Patrick's world, a passionate drone enthusiast hailing from the historic and beer-celebrated town of Leuven, Belgium. Born in 1974, Patrick's journey into the skies began in 2016, when his wife gifted him a toy RC helicopter for his birthday. This sparked his fascination with flying, which soon expanded to include drones. By 2018, Patrick had his first camera drone, the first-generation DJI Mavic Pro, affectionately nicknamed "Grote Vogel" or "Big Bird." His drone adventures quickly turned into a delightful mix of humor and awe as he captured stunning bird's-eye views of his travels.
From his early days of camping in tents to his adventures in a camper since 2005, Patrick has always been on the move. His love for motorcycles, which began at age 16, complements his passion for exploration. With a camera seemingly glued to his hands, Patrick has been documenting his journeys long before drones became part of his story.
In 2018, Patrick expanded his creative toolkit with the DJI Osmo Pocket, allowing him to blend ground and aerial footage seamlessly. Despite Belgium's restrictive drone laws at the time, Patrick's determination led him to obtain a French pilot license, enabling him to legally fly in several European countries.
The introduction of European drone laws in 2021 marked a new chapter for Patrick. He swapped his "Big Bird" for a DJI Mini 2, "Kleine Vogel" or "Little Bird," relishing the newfound freedom to capture night shots and more creative perspectives. His fleet continued to grow with the DJI Mini 3 Pro, "Breed Smoel" or "Wide-Mouthed," and later, the DJI Action 4 and DJI Osmo Pocket 3. In February 2025, Patrick added the DJI Air 3s, humorously named "Big Mac," to his collection, thanks to his wife's amusing nickname choice.
Patrick's favorite filming locations are those with breathtaking mountains, hills, and historical landmarks, which regularly feature in his videos. His debut on the Drone Seekers International livestream introduced him to a global community of drone enthusiasts, forming friendships that have enriched his journey. Now, a cherished guest on "Drone Show Live," Patrick shares his passion and lively spirit with fellow aficionados.
While Patrick's busiest seasons are spring and summer, when he's often on the road with his camper or motorcycle, he balances his adventures with work in safety training. Teaching others how to operate forklifts, cranes, and aerial platforms, Patrick seizes every opportunity to fly his drones in captivating locations.
